API and mod terms
In short
The public API and the mod are free to use. Be gentle with requests, credit us, respect players' privacy, and don't pretend to be us. Both come without guarantees.
1. Scope
These terms are part of our Terms of Service and apply when you use the public API at https://tiernation.club/api/v2 or the card images at https://tiernation.club/api/card, directly or through an app, bot or mod, and when you use the TierNation client mod.
2. Using the API
- You may use public API data in your own projects, including bots, mods, overlays and sites, free of charge, for personal or community use.
- Credit "TierNation" with a link to https://tiernation.club wherever you show the data, and don't suggest we endorse or run your project.
- Keep request rates reasonable: cache results, use the bulk endpoint for many players, and don't make more than a few requests per second. We may limit, block or change access at any time, without notice, to protect the Service.
- Respect players: if a profile becomes hidden or is deleted, stop showing it (refresh or delete cached data at least every 24 hours). Don't combine our data with other data to track, profile, harass or identify people, and follow the privacy laws that apply to you.
- Don't sell or license the data itself, or build a service that substitutes for TierNation, without our written permission.
- Don't try to reach non-public data or endpoints, or get around limits.
3. Using the mod
- The mod shows players' tiers in game. It's a client-side mod, but it's your responsibility to check it's allowed on the servers you play on; we aren't responsible if a server punishes you for using it.
- The mod asks our API for the tiers of the players you see. It sends no account information or usage statistics; see the Privacy Policy.
- Download the mod only from the official links on our website or Discord server. Copies from elsewhere may be modified or malicious.
- The mod is based on TierTagger and its source code is licensed under the Mozilla Public License 2.0; see Open-source licences. That licence, not these terms, governs the code; these terms govern its use with our API. Modified versions must not use the TierNation name or suggest they're official.
4. No warranty and liability
The API and the mod are provided "as is", without warranties, and may change, break or stop. Sections 13 and 14 of the Terms of Service (no warranty, limitation of liability) apply.
